About the design house

Svenskt Tenn: patterned rooms and objects with character.

Svenskt Tenn is a Stockholm interior design company with an online shop and a store on Strandvägen 5. Josef Frank textiles, pewter objects and furniture sit alongside glass and other designers' work. Explore it for a room built through colour, pattern and individual objects, or begin with a single vase or length of fabric. This is a design house's own shopping destination, rather than a marketplace of independent sellers.

From pewter workshop to interiors

Estrid Ericson founded the business in 1924 and brought Josef Frank into the company a decade later. The Stockholm store has occupied Strandvägen 5 since 1927. Pewter remains part of its identity, while Frank's prints give textiles a prominent role in the wider interior offering.

Four ways to explore

  • Textiles: Vegetable Tree is one example of Frank's large patterned designs. The official textile account distinguishes fabric qualities for different uses. Compare intended application, repeat and scale before selecting a length; one pattern may be offered in several qualities. A sample is more useful than a screen for deciding how it works beside your existing upholstery.
  • Pewter: compare restrained vessels such as Ericson's Jam Jar with more figurative designs. The company describes different processes, including spinning sheet metal and casting, rather than one method for every object. Choose the form and intended use first; a decorative sculpture and a vessel need different checks for size and care.
  • Dagg glass: Carina Seth Andersson's 2009 vase offers a rounded, bubble-like surface instead of patterned fabric or metallic pewter. Svenskt Tenn describes production in a graphite mould at Skruf in Småland. Consider the opening, dimensions and placement for the stems you use, rather than choosing colour alone.
  • Interior Design Studio: a route for refurnishing, curtains or a wider project. Fabric can be ordered by the metre online; curtain and sewing orders are handled through the store's textile department. Agree scope, material choices and fees with the studio before committing.

Where to shop or enquire

Our view

Start with an object if you want a smaller intervention; choose fabric or a studio project when the room itself is the brief. A busy print needs space and scale considered together. For tableware-led decorating, compare Herend's painted porcelain; for a reflective glass setting, explore Baccarat's crystal. Those are different material directions, not equivalents to Frank's textiles.

Select your delivery country on the official site and check the applicable terms for the actual product and order. No universal shipping, made-to-order return or installation promise is implied. Explore more interiors destinations.
