Do better if possible, and that is always possible.

The Oldest Watchmaker

Founded in Geneva in 1755 by Jean-Marc Vacheron at just 24 years of age, Vacheron Constantin is the oldest watch manufacturer in the world to have operated continuously since its founding — without interruption through wars, economic crises, or ownership changes. That unbroken heritage of 270 years is the philosophical foundation of everything the company makes.

A Motto That Endures

The company's famous motto — 'Do better if possible, and that is always possible' — was coined by François Constantin, who joined Jacques Barthélemy Vacheron as partner in 1819. Constantin travelled Europe developing markets for the brand. His restless perfectionism became the company's enduring spirit. Today Vacheron Constantin is part of the Richemont Group.

Holy Trinity

Vacheron Constantin is one of the 'Holy Trinity' of Swiss watchmaking alongside Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. In 2015, the company completed the Reference 57260: commissioned by an anonymous collector over eight years, it contains 57 complications — the most of any watch ever made. Every movement carries the prestigious Geneva Seal (Poinçon de Genève).

Collections

Key collections include the Overseas — a luxury sports watch with integrated bracelet, inspired by the 1977 reference 222 — the Traditionnelle (home to grand complications including tourbillons and minute repeaters), the ultra-thin Patrimony, and the Historiques series of faithful vintage reproductions. The Les Cabinotiers atelier creates bespoke one-of-a-kind commissions.

Prices

Prices begin at approximately $10,000 for entry-level Overseas pieces and climb to $500,000 and above for grand complications. The Les Cabinotiers commissions have no price ceiling. Annual production is estimated at approximately 20,000 pieces.
