Private jet membership or fractional ownership? Start with how you fly

The most useful starting point for private aviation is your calendar. Think about the journeys you actually make, the flexibility you need and the commitment you are comfortable discussing with a provider.
Access is not the same as ownership.
VistaJet describes its Program as an alternative to owning an aircraft, with membership-based access and an hourly-rate model. It also offers different flying solutions. The current regional agreement matters more than the general description. Explore VistaJet’s Program information ↗
NetJets distinguishes its Share and Card programmes. Its pricing guidance describes an ownership investment for a Share, and explains management, occupied-hour and fuel cost components across its offerings. These are different forms of commitment, rather than interchangeable ways of buying the same service. Read NetJets’ programme explanation ↗
Build a brief around your real journeys.
Our suggested worksheet has one line per typical trip: departure area, destination, travel dates, passenger count, luggage and how often plans change. Add the occasions when several family members or colleagues may need different flights.
Questions worth asking both providers.
- Which programme is available for my home region and normal destinations?
- What notice is required, and how are peak travel dates handled?
- What commitment, minimum usage or cancellation terms apply?
- Which cost elements sit outside the quoted flying rate?
- How are aircraft suitability, changes and disruption managed?
- Who operates the flight, and which agreement governs the journey?
Compare like with like.
Ask providers to work from the same sample itinerary and spell out their assumptions. Keep service terms and financial commitments in separate columns. A short written summary of what is included, conditional or excluded will help you ask better follow-up questions.
