VistaJet
The world's only global private aviation company.

History

Thomas Flohr — a Swiss entrepreneur — founded VistaJet in Switzerland in 2004, originally named Air Executive, after buying a business jet for personal use and identifying a fundamental inefficiency in the private aviation market. Existing models required clients either to own an aircraft outright (with all the capital, depreciation and operational complexity that entailed) or to pay for positioning flights — the empty legs required to move a jet to where the client needed it. Flohr's solution was elegantly simple: build a large enough global fleet that there was always an aircraft near the client, and charge only for the hours actually flown.

The Program

VistaJet's flagship product — the Program membership — is a pre-purchased block of flying hours at a fixed hourly rate, with guaranteed availability anywhere in the world within 24 hours' notice, and no positioning fees. The model requires an enormous fleet to work: in 2012, VistaJet placed the largest private jet order in history with Bombardier, worth approximately $7.8 billion, for a fleet of Global 5000s, Global 6000s and Global 7500s. Today the fleet exceeds 360 aircraft — all silver and red Bombardier Globals and Challengers — making it the world's largest privately owned branded jet fleet.

The Experience

Onboard, VistaJet is distinguished by exceptional consistency: every cabin is fitted to the same standard, regardless of which aircraft you board or where in the world you board it. Cabin hosts are trained by the British Butler Institute and Norland College. Fine linen, Christofle silverware, a curated wine list, and dining prepared in partnership with Michelin-starred chefs are standard. The Global 7500 — the flagship aircraft — can fly non-stop for up to 17 hours, connecting virtually any two cities in the world without a technical stop.

Global Reach

VistaJet has flown to 207 countries and over 2,400 airports — effectively anywhere an aircraft can land. This global coverage is what the company means when it describes itself as the only truly global private aviation company. Traditional fractional ownership programmes are primarily North American or European; VistaJet was built from the start to serve clients in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America as seamlessly as Europe or the US. The company operates a 24/7 global operations centre and employs over 1,000 aviation specialists from more than 60 countries.

Pricing

VistaJet's Program membership requires a minimum annual commitment of 50 flying hours. Pricing is bespoke and not publicly listed, but industry estimates suggest the Challenger 350 (super-midsize) runs approximately $8,000–10,000 per hour, while the flagship Global 7500 runs approximately $15,000–18,000 per hour. All-in costs including the Program fee make VistaJet most competitive for clients flying 50+ hours annually who value global reach and guaranteed availability over outright aircraft ownership.
