Chrono24
The world's largest marketplace for luxury watches.

History

Chrono24 was founded in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2003 and has grown to become the world's largest online marketplace for luxury watches. The platform connects over 3,000 professional watch dealers from more than 100 countries with buyers worldwide, alongside private sellers. Unlike a retailer, Chrono24 does not hold inventory — it facilitates transactions between buyers and sellers while providing escrow payment, authentication support and buyer protection.

The Platform

Chrono24 lists over 500,000 watches at any given time, spanning every price point from entry-level Swiss watches to ultra-rare collectors' pieces valued in the millions. The platform is particularly strong for Rolex (the most-searched brand), Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille and other high-demand brands where secondary market availability and pricing transparency are most valuable. The mobile app is among the most-used tools in the watch collecting community.

Buyer Protection

Chrono24's Trusted Checkout escrow service holds payment until the watch has been received and verified by the buyer. Buyers have 14 days to request a return if the watch does not match the description. Authentication specialists review high-value transactions. These protections have made Chrono24 the trusted default for international watch transactions — particularly for rare or allocated models unavailable through authorised retail channels.

Price Discovery

Beyond transactions, Chrono24 serves as the primary price discovery tool for the luxury watch market. The platform's historical sale data and current listings provide a real-time picture of secondary market values for virtually every reference of every major brand. This transparency has profoundly changed the watch market — buyers and sellers can now assess fair value with precision that was previously only available to industry insiders.
